Of course, you take your eye health seriously as well as your concern for seeing the best that you're capable of. What with the stress and pressures of your daily routine, though, it's easy enough to forget about your yearly eye exam at Vista Vision Optical. That's why we want to remind you. Eye care is vital because your eyes and vision are always changing and evolving. You may have never worn eyeglasses or contacts before, but this could be the time when you can really get something out of them. Just seeing okay shouldn't be good enough. Not when you can see much better with corrective lenses. And if you've been wearing contact lenses or glasses for years, you might benefit from an update of your prescription. That's what we're committed to at our Brooklyn vision center. In addition, we will screen you for the most common eye diseases. Most of them have no symptoms to alert you to their presence in their early stages. This is yet another reason why you want to have an eye exam every year. Early detection is linked to the best outcomes with any disease, including those of the eye.
A variety of tests will be conducted to gauge your vision, both up close, at a distance, in-between, and from side-to-side (peripheral). Our optometrist will check the key parts of your eyes also, including your eye muscles and eyelids. If you do need a new or updated prescription for glasses or contacts, it will be written for you and our Brooklyn vision center can fill it for you right here, making things very convenient.
Cataracts and glaucoma are two eye diseases that can happen to anyone at any age. The baseline test for cataracts is a slit-lamp exam, which uses light to see inside your eye. For glaucoma, tonometry will measure your level of internal eye pressure, the key element to making a diagnosis. Other tests will be conducted by our Brooklyn vision center as needed to ensure a proper diagnosis. Diseases like diabetic retinopathy will be addressed if you have type one or type two diabetes, while macular degeneration is a concern if you're 40 or older.
